Well done, servant, good and faithful

(Title from Matthew 25:21 YLT)

The word “seat” has many definitions and usages. Among the many found in a thesaurus, here are a couple that we will look at in this “musing”:

“a center of authority”

“the legal right to sit as a member in a legislative or similar body”

In the same manner, “stand” has similar functions:

“a posture making it more ideal to be seen and heard clearly“

“oftentimes done when someone in authority makes a judgment or proclamation of some kind”

Many times in Scripture we read of Yeshua being seated:

Luke 2:46 On the third day they found him — he was sitting in the Temple court among the rabbis, not only listening to them but questioning what they said;

Luke 4:20 After closing the scroll and returning it to the shammash [attendant, deacon], he sat down; and the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him.

Luke 5:3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Shim`on, and asked him to put out a little way from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.

Matthew 5:1 Seeing the crowds, Yeshua walked up the hill. After he sat down, his talmidim [disciples] came to him,

Psalm 110:1 A psalm of David. Adonai says to my Lord: “Sit at My right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”

Hebrews 1:3 This Son is the radiance of His glory and the imprint of His being, upholding all things by His powerful word. When He had made purification for our sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

Hebrews 10:12 But this one, after he had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, sat down at the right hand of God,

But not only that:

Ephesians 2:4-6 But God was rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us. Even when we were dead in our trespasses, He made us alive together with Messiah. (By grace you have been saved!) And He raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Messiah Yeshua—

WE believers ARE SEATED WITH MESSIAH YESHUA in a position of spiritual authority!! That’s something to grab onto in faith!

Now we look at stand:

Acts 7:55-56 But Stephen, full of the Ruach ha-Kodesh, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God—and Yeshua standing at the right hand of God. And he said, “Look, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”

Yeshua, who is seated at the right hand of the Father, STOOD UP to welcome this faithful servant home. I can imagine that that is His posture to all good and faithful servants.

I’m hoping these words will be an encouragement to you, my dear reader, and give you strength as you stand with Yeshua against the evil so prevalent in these days. Jeremiah 23:22 But if they had stood in My council, then they would have announced My words to My people, and would have turned them back from their evil way, and from the evil of their deeds. Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, having been made righteous by trusting, we have shalom with God through our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. Through Him we also have gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand and boast in the hope of God’s glory.

Matthew 25:21 His master said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You were faithful with a little, so I’ll put you in charge of much. Enter into your master’s joy!”

Here’s a link to a song recorded by The Imperials that speaks into this topic, and I hope will bless you. “My Child, Welcome Home.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMwRpV-KLHI
